Congratulations to Derek Chan on becoming President & CEO of Greater Hudson, recently converted General Agency of MassMutual.
He looks forward to serving diverse communities across N.Y. and N.J.
On April 1st, Derek Chan transitioned from Managing Partner to President & CEO of MassMutual Greater Hudson.
Chan has always valued making a difference in people’s lives since he can remember. It is after college, where he discovered within the financial services industry, the perfect combination of matching his passion for economics and the ability to help those around him in a meaningful way.
In 1996, he began his career at Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor and developed his practice over the next nine years before he was promoted to Senior Sales Manager in 2005. From there, he naturally transferred his nearly two decades of experience in financial services to serve as Managing Partner of MetLife in 2012.
“I already knew MassMutual’s reputation for providing great products before the acquisition, since I used them when I was an advisor,” Chan said. “What I’ve come to appreciate in the course of the last year and a half is MassMutual’s culture, which is predicated on long-term success. I feel like I can truly help others grow.”
Greater Hudson’s namesake inspires from the river running between the states of NY and NJ, which connects all their offices. With locations in Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn in New York, as well as Edison in New Jersey, Chan, along with MassMutual Greater Hudson’s 98 advisors, take pride to continuously serving the multicultural communities.
“Helping the people around us is an important part of Greater Hudson’s culture.” said Chan, “Becoming President & CEO will help me empower our firm to enact change on a larger scale, bringing greater impact on the lives of our advisors, clients, and overall community!”
